Avacta Group Plc operates as a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, specializing in the development of cancer therapies and diagnostic solutions. These advancements are driven by its proprietary Affimer and pre|CISION technology platforms, with the company's activities spanning the United Kingdom, North America, South Korea, and broader regions of Asia and Europe. Functioning across distinct Diagnostics and Therapeutics segments, Avacta's diagnostic endeavors include crafting bespoke Affimer proteins for customer products, developing internal diagnostic assays such as the AffiDX SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test, and supplying Affimer reagents for integration into third-party offerings. Concurrently, its Therapeutics division is dedicated to pioneering novel cancer immunotherapies through the strategic combination of its proprietary technologies. The company maintains a comprehensive network of collaborations, notably including a research partnership focused on its pre|CISION technology, which utilizes a substrate highly sensitive to cleavage by fibroblast activation protein alpha. Further key alliances encompass a drug development collaboration with LG Chem Life Sciences; a strategic partnership with Tufts University School of Medicine to advance Affimer drug conjugate therapies; a licensing agreement with POINT Biopharma Inc. for the creation of tumor-activated radiopharmaceuticals; and a drug development partnership with AffyXell, aimed at developing engineered mesenchymal stem cells for autoimmune disease treatment.
