Kromek Group plc, a UK-based entity established in 2013 with headquarters in Sedgefield, specializes in the design, production, and global distribution of advanced radiation detection components and devices. These technologies provide high-resolution data on material composition and structure, serving critical applications across diverse markets such as medical imaging, the civil nuclear sector, CBRNe security, and safety screening. Its reach extends across the United Kingdom, North America, Asia, Europe, Australasia, and Africa. The company's innovative solutions are employed for various purposes, from identifying cancerous tissues and hazardous substances like explosives, to analyzing radioactive materials. Within the civil nuclear industry, Kromek offers sophisticated gamma and neutron detectors, high-specification, high-resolution devices, essential components, and specialized software designed to address complex nuclear detection challenges. These often utilize cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) or scintillator technologies for the detection of gamma rays, x-rays, and neutrons. For medical imaging, their portfolio includes CZT gamma detectors for SPECT, CZT bone mineral densitometry detectors, and cutting-edge photon-counting spectral CT systems. Kromek also provides CBRNE homeland security products and comprehensive solutions for a wide range of clients, including government agencies, border control, airports, seaports, HazMat teams, ambulance crews, police, and armed forces. This offering features specialized gamma spectroscopy software for in-depth sample analysis. Furthermore, the company supports scientific research and development through its CZT imaging development platforms, such as the DMatrix and the EV3500 scalable x-ray CZT linear array, designed for laboratory and research applications. Kromek distributes its products through a combination of distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and direct sales channels.
